New Signal Operational on SR 369 at Dr. Bramblett Road

The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced a new traffic signal at State Route 369 and Dr. Bramblett Road became operational Wednesday, February 3.

Each intersection is reviewed to determine if the intersection meets the Federal guidelines for the installation of a traffic signal based on the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.  The intersection of State Route 369 and Dr. Bramblett Road met those requirements.

“Please slow down through the area and use extra caution until you get familiar with the new signal location. Remember to watch out for other drivers until they get used to the new signal too. Typically five rear-end crashes occur in the first year after a signal is installed because it is new and people aren’t expecting to have to stop,” cautioned Georgia DOT District Traffic Engineer Brent Cook.

DOT and the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office will monitor the area to ensure drivers are following the new traffic signal.

“The reconstruction of this intersection isn’t complete. Crews are awaiting warm weather. The average temperature must be warmer than 50 degrees to place the top layer of asphalt at the intersection. That top inch to inch and a half of asphalt must cure for 30 days and then the permanent striping can be completed. We look forward to finishing work at this intersection as the weather allows. Traffic will flow through the intersection much more efficiently now that the signal is in place and that will help congestion along the entire corridor,” concluded Cook.

Georgia DOT urges travelers to call 511 for updated information about this or any other construction project on interstates and state routes. Georgia 511 is a free phone service that provides real-time traffic and travel information statewide, such as traffic conditions, incidents, lane closures, and delays due to inclement weather. Callers also can transfer to operators to request assistance or report incidents 24 hours a day, seven days a week. More information is available at www.511ga.org.
